Goodfellow Bros., Inc., a general contractor located in multiple regions throughout the Western United States and Hawaii, is looking for a Take Off Technician to add to our team in either our Livermore or Folsom, California offices! Our company is a fourth generation, family-owned business with more than 97 years of experience in the industry. The main Livermore office is located right off the 580 freeway and we also have an office in Folsom, CA. Goodfellow Bros. California LLC has been involved in many exciting and high profile projects including paving the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco's Monster Park, The Great Mall in Milpitas, Bay Meadows, The Levi's stadium in Santa Clara, and the newly completed Apple Campus in Cupertino. Our line-up for 2018 includes Microsoft, Google, Folsom Ranch and the Chase Arena just to name a few.


The Take Off Technician will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting plans to determine quantities of construction on public work projects. This person must be to be able to interpret plans and coordinate take off quantities as they relate to specific items of work identified by an agency in coordination with a public works estimator.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Review plans and specifications for information necessary to quantify scope of work.

  • Must be able to understand staging and phasing concepts, understand stationing on roadways and interpret public works plans.

  • Review scope with project estimator for completeness.

  • Color plans and segregate work according to areas, staging and activities to represent scope of work and areas of takeoff.

  • Monitor and maintain standard specifications and standard plans books for various municipalities. Order updates and revisions to existing information.

  • Perform length and area takeoff for surface improvements and earthwork analysis utilizing latest technology software.

  • Prepares summary of quantity takeoff for estimator. Double checks takeoff for accuracy and completeness.

  • Become proficient in the use of G.P.S. to verify topos and determine quantities.

  • Understand the elements in the submission of public works bids (bid runs); assist bid reviews and closing.

 

SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Associate’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering is a plus.

  • Must be able to understand basic math formulas for calculating areas and volumes of basic geometrical shapes.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.

  • Intermediate computer experience using Excel and Word; Agtek, AutoCAD, Outlook and Bluebeam a plus.

  • Possess strong analytical skills

  • Ability to work in an environment of many different personalities.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner. Must be detail oriented and organized.
