GBI has always maintained that our employees are our greatest asset and we are now seeking to add to our team on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii. We are searching for a qualified candidate to fill an opening for a Shop Engineer.

JOB SUMMARY:
GBI is seeking an experienced Shop Engineer with potential growth to Shop Manager. This important position will report directly to the Regional Manager and work alongside Master Mechanic. This position requires strong leadership and management skills with mechanical understanding. Position is not required to have experience as a Master Mechanic.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety:
  • Promotes and adheres to all safety regulations. Provides employees with safety equipment needed to perform tasks.
  • Personnel Management
  • Assists Regional Managers and Master Mechanic in hiring of new shop personnel.
  • Assists Master Mechanic in setting up and providing training for heavy duty repair personnel.
  • Counsel employees about work related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
Procurement:
  • Supervises procurement of parts for repairs being performed. Supplies mechanics with tooling, supplies and parts so they can effectively do their job.
  • Reviews all outside repairs with outside vendors and follows up on outside repair costs for region.
  • Assists in equipment acquisitions and disbursals for given region.
  • Meet with vendors or suppliers to discuss products and equipment.
Cost Management:
  • Works directly with Regional Manager and GBI Equipment Manager and discusses all costs and major repairs being performed.
  • Reviews monthly regional shop cost reports with Shop and Regional Managers.
  • Manages Equipment 360 program for all mechanics and lube service personnel for the region.
  • Review and sign completed mechanics timecard
  • Review and transmit PM sheets
  • Review and transmit lube sheets
  • Manages equipment moves in HCSS Dispatcher.
  • Meet weekly with Regional Manager and Wenatchee Shop Call
  • Review maintenance due report.
  • Monthly Hour Meter Reading Report for all pickups and equipment, Monthly fuel Inv. Reading Report
Zonar:
  • Review Zonar inspection reports and insure managers are addressing any issues with their operators.
  • Review open Zonar defects and clear completed open Zonar defects.
  • Verify that all current and new jobs have an up to Date Zonar Geo-fences for fuel taxes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; College degree or additional certifications a MAJOR plus
  • Prior management / supervisory experience a plus.
  • Valid Driver’s license with acceptable driving history
