Goodfellow Bros is a large heavy/civil contractor with operations throughout the West Coast and Hawaiian Islands. GBI has always maintained that their employees are their greatest asset. The Maple Valley office is currently searching for a Dispatcher out of our Ravensdale yard, which is about 10 minutes from our Maple Valley, WA office.

JOB SUMMARY: The Dispatcher will work with a team to supply/schedule personnel, equipment and materials to job sites, using HCSS Dispatcher software. They will also maintain recordkeeping of job site dispatches. They will also be in charge of our Ravensdale yard upkeep and organization as well as assisting our maintenance crew with daily paperwork and parts ordering. In charge of directing our parts runner.

SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm with ½ hour lunch break.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Take dispatches from field personnel
  • Coordinate equipment moves
  • Locate and rent equipment for job sites
  • Order materials and trucking
  • Order transportation permits for transports
  • Supply trucking, materials, employees and equipment to job sites on a daily dispatch
  • Notify personnel of start times and locations for next day.
  • Process and enter dispatch information into the Dispatch Scheduler.
  • Direct transport drivers on equipment moves, including outside transports.
  • Communicating with employees regarding safety related concerns.
  • Update employee, equipment, quarry, and vender phone lists.
  • Review driver logs for driver’s hours and for any service needs.
  • Review Accounts Payable invoices for errors and correct them through the billing company.
  • Checking and approving transportation time cards.
  • Handle after hour calls regarding personnel, material and equipment needs.
  • Maintain Dispatch during weekends.
  • Heavy communication to include cell phones, emails, interoffice phones, including voice mail systems.
SKILLS/TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
  • Experience with heavy computer use required
  • Previous dispatch experience preferred
  • Experience in computer assisted dispatch programs helpful (HCSS)
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of Puget Sound area in order to give directions
  • Ability to interact with work force that may exceed 150 union employees
  • Knowledge of union operations helpful
  • Highly-Organized
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers
