Position Summary:

Goodfellow Bros., Inc. is seeking a Proposal Specialist to join our growing marketing team. The Proposal Specialist will work with operations teams, company-wide, to plan, write, and deliver best-in-class, compelling proposals and sales presentations with engaging copy that supports the strategic marketing plan and company mission. Additional responsibilities include the development and maintenance of a project database to properly catalog and archive project data to ensure its integrity.

Essential Functions:

  • Preparation of proposal and SOQs by reviewing requests (RFPs and RFQs), researching and formatting information, writing drafts, obtaining approvals and compiling all pertinent information to put the firm’s best and most strategic foot forward.

  • Improve efficiencies and proposal-writing results by evaluating and redesigning processes, approach and coordination; implement changes for uniformity among regions.

  • Maintain quality results by using templates and following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; ensure consistency in theme and strategic focus in corporate messages.

  • Construct/write strategic boilerplate that speaks to GBI’s differentiators, values, mission, etc.

  • Update and maintain firm marketing intranet with collateral, boilerplate, proposal library and other inventory.

  • Preparation of firm collateral such as brochures, slip sheets, website content, white papers and other thought-leadership documents alongside marketing director.

  • Develop and edit other technical sales tools such as case studies and market-specific collateral for each region within GBI.

  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop content for compelling presentations to be used during the sales process and other venues.

  • Serve as writer/editor for other non-proposal/non-presentation projects as time and resource demands require.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Writing or related

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • 5+ years of experience in collateral, proposal and/or presentation writing and preparation in a professional services firm required

  • Ability to create, write and edit proposals of various lengths to support various markets and regions

  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word. (experience in other Adobe programs a plus)

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, follow-through, and effectively problem-solve

  • Demonstrated ability to be a strategic thinker with strong interpersonal and collaborative teamwork skills

  • Attention to detail and deadline-driven including ability to multi-task and work in a diverse and fast-paced atmosphere with short time lines and multiple priorities

  • The ability to conduct online research, edit/rewrite existing text on complex topics and synthesize complex issues

  • Creative thinker with the ability to understand their audience and explain ideas in an appealing way. Proven record of developing engaging presentation content in support of sales efforts.
